HPLC Column, RP C8 Octyl, 5um, 2.1mm ID x 100mm Length, 100A. Cogent Brand. 1 EA.

Additional Information:

Cogent RP C8™ HPLC Columns are designed for reliable reversed-phase chromatography using a traditional octyl (C8) bonded stationary phase. Manufactured with ultra-high purity silica and fully double end capped bonding technology, these columns provide reproducible retention, excellent peak shape, and long column life. The RP C8™ phase is a USP L7 equivalent chemistry and is commonly used as an alternative for methods developed on similar C8 phases. Compared to C18 columns, RP C8™ generally provides lower hydrophobic retention while maintaining excellent selectivity for many neutral and non-polar compounds.

68508-10P-2 is packed with 5 µm RP C8™ particles featuring a 100 Å pore size in a 2.1 mm ID x 100 mm length format. The 100 mm column length provides increased resolving power compared to shorter 50 mm columns while maintaining reasonable analysis times. The RP C8™ stationary phase is well suited for hydrophobic compounds, neutral analytes, and long-chain fatty acids where somewhat lower retention than a comparable C18 column is desired. The 5 µm particle size provides low backpressure and broad compatibility with conventional HPLC and LC-MS systems.

This column is frequently selected for LC-MS applications when greater chromatographic resolution is required without moving to longer analytical columns. The 2.1 mm ID format minimizes solvent consumption and is particularly suited for mass spectrometry workflows. Optimum performance is typically achieved at approximately 0.2-0.3 mL/min. Standard HPLC systems used with this column must be capable of delivering accurate and reproducible low flow rates, and low-volume detector flow cells are recommended to minimize extra-column band broadening.
